Melanoma Support Group
Yoga
Prepare For Surgery/Chemotherapy/Radiation
PROGRAMS
ON GOING PROGRAMS AT THE CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY
PARTICIPANT SUPPORT GROUP
For people with cancer at any point in their cancer journey. Weekly group which individuals commit to; pre- screening necessary to join these groups. Call to set-up screening. Two separate groups: Wednesdays 10:30-12 & Thursdays 4-6pm.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
Open to all those people who care for or about someone with cancer. No pre-screening necessary.
Meets 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month 6-8pm
MELANOMA SUPPORT GROUP
This is a drop-in group open to anyone diagnosed with melanoma. Facilitated by Frank McCaffrey, LICSW, it meets the second Thursday of every month from 6 to 7:30 pm. Frank comes from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and has extensive experience working with people who have a melanoma diagnosis. Thank you to the Melanoma Foundation of New England for supporting this program.
MEN'S CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
"Open to any man who has been diagnosed with cancer. No pre-screening necessary – just drop in.
Meets the1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month 6-8pm.
TAI CHI
Open to people with cancer and their families & caregivers. Focused on stretching, balancing & meditation techniques with attention paid to physical realities of those involved with cancer treatments or in post-treatment phase. No pre-screening necessary - just drop in.
Meets every Tuesday 10-11am.
YOGA
Gentle Yoga class every Monday from 10 to 11:30 am. Open to people who are diagnosed with cancer and their families or caregivers. This class will focus on simple yoga poses to increase strength, flexibility and improve over all mood. Simple breathing exercises and meditations will be taught to reduce anxiety, stress and improve sleep. NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION MEETING
Open to people diagnosed with cancer and their families and caregivers. We suggest that people attend a Newcomers meeting to learn about CSC-MSS – it's mission, philosophy and programs.
Meets the1st and 3rd Mondays from 12 to 1. Just drop in!
PREPARE FOR SURGERY/CHEMOTHERAPY/RADIATION
This is a one-to-one session based on Peggy Huddleston's program. It provides physical and emotional preparation for surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy. We have two staff members who have been personally trained by Ms Huddleston. Scheduling is set-up on an individual basis.
LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER
American Cancer Society program -A free program that teaches beauty techniques to women who are undergoing cancer treatment, to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemo therapy. Trained cosmetologists will assist with skin care,make up, hair styling with wigs and accessories . Held periodically at CSC-MSS.
